The integrated information lies within regions over which the maximal peaks of the overlap function occur with the largest spread. The original proposal for generating and analyzing the overlap function is centralized and can only take place at the processing center. A distributed integration of the overlap function is proposed in [29] for the mobileagent-based computing such that at each stop of the itinerary, a partially integrated result can be generated from previously migrated sensor node outputs and the accuracy of the information derived from this result can be used to justify if the mobile agent needs to continue with its migration. The distributed method would generate the same output as the centralized method if the mobile agents finishes its itinerary.

A multiple criteria algorithm for planning the itinerary of mobile sink in wireless sensor networks

The mobile sink can increase the efficiency of wireless sensor networks. It moves in a monitored environment and collects the network nodes information. Thus, by the sink we can balance the power consumption and increases the network lifetime. Determining path of the sink's movement is usually modeled as an optimization problem where finding optimal solutions require collecting value of all the...

On Mobile Agent Itinerary for Collaborative Processing in Sensor Networks

One of the most important problems studied in wireless sensor network applications is the collaborative processing among sensor nodes in order to compensate for each other’s sensing and computing capabilities and to tolerate faults. The client/server based paradigm and the mobile agent based paradigm are two popular computing models used in collaborative processing. One of the most challenging ...

3D Path Planning Algorithm for Mobile Anchor-Assisted Positioning in Wireless Sensor Networks

Positioning service is one of Wireless Sensor Networks’ (WSNs) fundamental services. The accurate position of the sensor nodes plays a vital role in many applications of WSNs. In this paper, a 3D positioning algorithm is being proposed, using mobile anchor node to assist sensor nodes in order to estimate their positions in a 3D geospatial environment. However, mobile anchor node’s 3D path optim...

Distributed computing paradigms for collaborative processing in sensor networks

In sensor networks, collaborative processing between multiple sensor nodes is essential in order to complement for each other’s sensing capability, tolerate faults, and provide reliable information. The client/server-based paradigm is typical for distributed processing. However, it is not the most efficient in the context of sensor networks. In this paper, we present a mobileagent-based paradig...

Mobile-Agent-Based Collaborative Signal and Information Processing in Sensor Networks

In this paper, we develop an energy-efficient, fault-tolerant approach for collaborative signal and information processing (CSIP) among multiple sensor nodes using a mobile-agent-based computing model. In this model, instead of each sensor node sending local information to a processing center for integration, as is typical in client/server-based computing, the integration code is moved to the s...
